I recenly resigned from a job.
Such moments in the healthcare profession are bittersweet.
I worked with children who cognitively were 6mons. or lower. All were wheelchair bound, and nonverbal. This nursing home/school housed victims of substance/physical abuse, genetic disorders, gang fights, vehicle accidents etc. As many of you may realize.... I use my experiences with these unique beings as inspiration. They are truly a group of individuals who contain some of the most human characteristics that our species posess. I love them.
I was told two weeks ago to cease any music therapy (as I am a board certified MT) with the students. Two days later I submitte d my resignation. I could not go on with the knowledge that I have the tools and experience to create more of a difference in their lives than I was allowed.
My strings do not ring so much anymore.
The children do not sing so much either.

Instead of continuing to exist in the jar they build around me...I decided to fly free.

We celebrated the summer solstyce in class by building a fairy box. I guess the fairies party hard every summer solstyce...and needed a place to rock out.

I hope they atleast had music.
