Sorrow and Loss by ~
cmulcahy This is hands down my favorite portrait on all of deviantART. Its been in the models gallery for quite some time, so i suggested that the photographer upload it to her gallery so i could give it the recognition it deserves! As an extra bonus, today is International Women's Day, so what better time to feature this superb shot by an amazing photographer! (

okay, I lied.
Three things.
1. I think it's funny you said this exact sentence, since the back of my business card says, "I like your face."
2. You are entitled to your opinions. Doesn't mean that they are worth anything though. They call it "two cents worth" for a reason... though, it makes me wonder why someone inquiring only offers a penny for one's thoughts.
3. Obsidian-fox... shame on you for defending me. I appreciate it... but can defend myself. I don't particularly find it offensive it all. I don't have experience modeling.
If the viewer doesn't want to transcend that paradigm, that the hot model poses perfectly, and see that there's an underlying emotion attached to the image...thats fine with me.
"I do what I want..." (quoth the cassandra e.)
Cheers!
Personally, I think his face is distinguished, that of a thinker, someone with a lot to say, write, or feel..
It would be appreciated that you keep negative comments about models to a minimum, as some may construe it as harassment.
You said you didnt like his face, thats nothing that has to do with the photo, it is a jab at the model.
crit·i·cism Listen to the pronunciation of criticism
Pronunciation:
\ˈkri-tə-ˌsi-zəm\
Function:
noun
Date:
1607
1 a: the act of criticizing usually unfavorably <seeking encouragement rather than criticism> b: a critical observation or remark <an unfair criticism> c: critique2: the art of evaluating or analyzing works of art or literature; also : writings expressing such evaluation or analysis <an anthology of literary criticism>3: the scientific investigation of literary documents (as the Bible) in regard to such matters as origin, text, composition, or history
The look of/on his face has nothing to with the model except for how he chose to position his head (assuming he is the one who chose to position his head is such an unflattering manner). He has an expression on his face that is not fitting to the photo at all, and like I said, his head is positioned in quite the unflattering manner that makes it look like he hasn't a neck! He is also staring at the camera, which doesn't seem fitting for this photo and does not go well with the rest of his positioning.
'Tis beautiful.
